skillet rosemary bread
this entire skillet bread loaf was devoured in one night… by two people.
A fairly new addition to our kitchen inventory has been a cast iron skillet. Although I’m still learning how to clean it properly and exactly what “seasoning” it means, it’s no doubt been a great tool that makes incredibly flavorful dishes.
As soon as we got it, I immediately bought some skillet cookbooks and researched cast-iron recipes. I came across a recipe on baker bettie for “easy no knead skillet bread” and was instantly intrigued.. Not at ALL being very good in the kitchen (or having much desire to be), this recipe felt doable and yet something that i’d be impressed with myself for making. I couldn’t wait to hopefully pop out a non-burnt homemade loaf out of the oven, take a quick photo for instagram, and dip it in some olive oil!
I adjusted it a little bit for seasoning (meaning I just tossed some chopped garlic into the dough before baking) but followed her recipe almost to a tee. One thing I really liked about the recipe is that it’s made from pantry ingredients, so you could really whip it up on a whim (it’s a process that takes over 2 hours but is extremely easy).
the bread came out soft and dense, reminding me of foccacia bread.
